Public Notice: Bernardsville-Gillette B730 34.5kV Insulator Replacement
FirstEnergy is performing maintenance in Bernardsville for the Bernardsville–Gillette B730 34.5 kV Insulator Replacement project, actively underway and expected to finish by May 2026.
Project Details: Aged and deteriorated insulators are being replaced on the 34.5kV line to prevent electrical leakage, reduce fire risk, and improve performance. Work is focused on critical crossings (river, highway, road, distribution lines). The contractor is Henkels & McCoy.
Impact on Residents and Drivers: We anticipate very limited disruption to residents and traffic. Work will be conducted mostly within the NJ Transit Right-of-Way (ROW), with access mainly from intersections. Residents whose backyards border the train line may see crew trucks, trailers, and equipment working in the ROW.
