Primary Election Information
Registering to Vote
-The last day to register to vote in the Primary Election is May 20, 2025
-Applications must be postmarked by May 20th or you can go in person to the Office of the Somerset County Commissioner of Registration at 20 Grove Street in Somerville by 9:00pm on May 20th
-Visit the NJ Voter Information Portal page https://nj.gov/state/elections/voter-registration.shtml#vrf for more information including how to register to vote (online and paper applications are available), checking your voter registration status, and student voter registration.
Vote By Mail
-To obtain an application to vote by mail, click this link https://www.co.somerset.nj.us/government/elected-officials/county-clerk/election-division/vote-by-mail
-Applications must be received by the County Clerk's office no later than 7 days prior to Election Day (June 3rd). Voters may apply in person at the County Clerk's Office at 20 Grove Street in Somerville or via authorized messenger up until 3:00 P.M. the day before the election. Voters applying in person will receive their ballot by hand upon submitting the application.
-The Vote By Mail Drop Box located at the front entrance of Borough Hall, 166 Mine Brook Road, Bernardsville, is open at all times beginning April 17, 2025 at 8:30am to June 10, 2025 at 8:00pm.

The Borough Clerk serves as Secretary of the Municipal Corporation and to the governing body, performs general administrative, licensing and election duties. Reports to the Mayor and Council.

The Clerks’ Office is accepting applications for 2025 Dog & Cat Licenses and Parking Decals.
Animal Licenses:
• Dog Licenses are required per Chapter 5 of the Borough Code;
• Cat Licenses are required per Chapter 10 of the Board of Health Code.
In order to obtain a 2025 animal license, proof of rabies must be provided and valid through November 1, 2025 per state law.
Animal Licenses must be obtained by January 31st to avoid a licensing late fee of $10. New dogs are to be licensed within 10 days of acquisition.
Dogs of licensing age are dogs that have reached the age of seven months.

Parking Decals (obtained at the Borough Clerk's Office):
• Commuter decals are available for the Bernardsville Train Station Parking lot.
• Library decals are only available for employees working in the Library building or lower level of the Library building and not sold to the public.
